Johns Hopkins University has developed an ambitious vision to continue to integrate life design, experiential learning, and mentoring in the academic and co-curricular learning experience for all students and postdoctoral fellows. Under the leadership of Dr. Farouk Dey, the inaugural vice provost for integrative learning and life design, the university has announced several new initiatives and a mission to ensure every student and postdoctoral fellow will have the ability to pursue life purpose regardless of background, field of study, or social capital.

We are seeking aCareer & Outcomes Managerwho will provide in-house and external facing data analytics support to the team; oversees the production of the annual Employment Outcomes Report, Internship report, and regular mid-year and annual reports.



Specific Duties & Responsibilities




Employment Outcomes and Business Development Data Collection, Interpretation and Visualization

  • Launch and manage the graduate outcomes survey to each graduate of SAIS’s graduate degree programs, as well as to alumni, on a defined schedule aligning with varying graduation dates. Ensure timely launch and regular touchpoints to encourage an optimum response rate.
  • Follow-up with graduates via in-person contact, telephone, email, social media, and other tracking databases to track all career outcomes progress.
  • Prepare information for frequent full-time degree review meetings with Global Careers staff to provide support and transparency for staff regarding student employment data.
  • Record and archive career outcomes communication and relevant information.
  • Interpret data to identify positive and negative trends and synthesize information to inform micro level approaches to student intervention, prior to data collection closing to ensure optimum response rate results.
  • Regularly obtain and track items such as educational/career milestones, employment verification, and other key data points via electronic databases.
  • Create reports and presentations on employment outcome findings.
  • Support Global Careers team in in-house data collection to track student engagement of coaching, events, professional development course and other key programming.
  • Run a regular series of satisfaction surveys of Global Careers treks, industry days, coaching, and other career programming.
  • Work with the JHU Office of Integrative Learning and Life Design to maintain student engagement dashboard.


Communication and School Collaboration

  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with key school partners (Admissions, Development and Alumni Relations, Academic Administration, Office of International Services, Office of Institutional Data & Analytics, Records and Registration) to support a culture of data sharing and data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with the Central JHU Integrated Learning and Life Design Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst, JHIT Enterprise Business Solutions team and Data Warehouse to coordinate university support towards outcome collection, evaluation and promotion.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Bologna and the Hopkins Nanjing Center to align efforts and use resources to improve data collection efforts with alumni who return to their home country post-graduation.
  • Work closely with the Office of International Services to ensure quarterly OPT data reports are integrated into career outcomes data.

  • Flexibility to work evening hours periodically in order to conduct research follow-up calls during hours when students/alumni are most likely to be available.

  • Ability to interact with a diverse population and sensitivity to issues to ensure effective multi-cultural communication.
  • Strong working knowledge of all SAIS divisions and programs or ability to quickly learn.
  • Strong working knowledge of admissions, registration, student accounts, and graduation procedures.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Highly attentive to detail.
  • Ability to be creative and use social media and other systems to track employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders with vested interest in sensitive data.
  • Ability to work well autonomously, be self-directed, and manage workload independently.

  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player; adaptable to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data for informed decision-making.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods with the ability to analyze data succinctly and translate into actionable plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of data analytics and tools.

Computer & Other Special Needs for Position

  • Computer and standard office equipment is used on a daily basis. Must have excellent computer skills (Word, Excel and Access) and ability to quickly learn other programs as needed.
  • Strong data analytics skillset: Experience in reporting and/or data management experience with knowledge of data and reporting concepts along with exposure to applicable tools and languages (Example: SQL, Python, R, STAT) strongly recommended. Fluency with Excel and Power BI required.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional work experience in an analytical role, with proven project management experience required.
  • Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education preferred.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
