Summary Position
The Special Events and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and implementation of numerous academic affairs events as well as provide leadership and assistance in a variety of campus wide events. This position will contribute to communication from the provost's office and maintain timely and accurate information on the provost office website. The Special Events and Communications Coordinator will also handle a variety of reports and awards for the provost office.

    General Purpose of Position
    The Special Events and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and implementation of numerous academic affairs events as well as provide leadership and assistance in a variety of campus wide events. This position will contribute to communication from the provost’s office and maintain timely and accurate information on the provost office website. The Special Events and Communications Coordinator will also handle a variety of reports and awards for the provost office.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Event Coordination (45% of time)
  • Works closely with community partners across campus to plan, implement and communicate Elon’s planning week.
  • Works with the president’s office and cultural and special programs to lead New Student Convocations, Faculty and Staff awards luncheon, Years of Service, Commencement and other university events as needed.
  • Serves as the academic affairs representative for homecoming and family weekend events. This includes arranging mini-classes, meetings with faculty, and other academic programming.
  • Plans and implements events sponsored by the provost’s office
  • Collaborate with IT, moving and setup, facilities management, and other campus offices, as needed, to ensure appropriate event support



Academic Affairs Communication (40% of time)
  • Communicates effectively with all campus constituents, including members of senior staff; deans; and faculty to ensure all parties know their roles and responsibilities at the event
  • Alerts campus of upcoming events
  • Assists with development of the provost report and years of service tributes and shares them with appropriate offices
  • Maintains a calendar and examples of standard annual communications from the provost’s office and assists the provost with timely communication
  • Communicate office hours request to campus
  • Manages the provost office website

Other Administrative duties (15% of time)
  • Assisting with the Student Perceptions of Teaching and Class Climate process for courses
  • Run and distribute the GPA reports
  • Facilitate the awards process for various faculty and student awards
  • Facilitate the faculty emeritx nomination process
  • Other faculty and provost reporting as needed
