Position Summary

The function of this position is to coordinate and support the Brawley site of SDSU Imperial Valley, and to serve as a liaison with the Calexico site. The position will be under the direction of the Imperial Valley Campus Administrator. The functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the operation of the site and troubleshoot issues as they arise;
  • Provide support for faculty teaching at the site;
  • Interview, train, and provide lead direction to student employees assigned to the site;
  • Serve as the liaison between the Brawley and Calexico campuses.

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The position may work evenings and weekends.

    The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU Imperial Valley, Brawley.

    Department Summary

    SDSU Imperial Valley is a campus/college of San Diego State University serving the desert area of southeastern California. It is accredited as an integral unit of SDSU and operates under the same governance structure and university policies. Established in 1959 by an act of the State Legislature, SDSU IV offers its programs at two locations in Imperial County: Calexico and Brawley. Offering four- year and two-year undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and post-baccalaureate credential programs, SDSU Imperial Valley helps matriculated students achieve their higher education goals. Currently, SDSU IV employs 158 faculty and staff members.

    Education and Experience

    This classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, Administrative Support Coordinators are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to communicate orally and in writing. Position may require knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is a prerequisite.

    These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

    Key Qualifications
    • Experience using Microsoft Office Applications
    • Experience using Google Shared Drive
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel
    • Experience with budgets
    • Bilingual: English and Spanish
    • Three years of related experience is preferred
    • Knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures
    • Experience with creating and maintaining reports in Excel
    • Experience troubleshooting simple office equipment malfunctions, such as computers, printers, copiers, etc.
    • Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a group
    • Lead and/or supervisor experience
    • Purchasing experience
    • Experience working in a higher education or public sector setting

    Licenses/Certifications Required
    • Valid California Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,505 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month.
