SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

To provide leadership and assume primary responsibility for all aspects of the Library, including its staff, annual operations budget, materials and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides the leadership, vision, and strategic direction of the Proctor Library.
  • Manages and supervises the Library staff.
  • Prepares and executes the annual operating budget of the Library.
  • Approves orders of print and electronic materials and equipment for the Library in support of the academic curriculum.
  • Provides information to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty regarding the work of the Library.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Interviews and selects candidates to fill librarian and library staff vacancies.
  • Reviews all material request from faculty, students and staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
ADDITONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Attends and participates in College meetings related to Academic Affairs and/or the Library.
  • Maintains memberships in the American Library Association (ALA), the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the Florida Library Association (FLA).
  • Attends both national and statewide professional library conferences and workshops in order to stay current in the academic library field.
  • Provides general and course-related library research instruction to students and faculty across the academic disciplines at Flagler College.
  • Collaborates closely with one or more academic departments to serve as a library liaison and to provide research instruction to students and faculty.
  • Presents professional and friendly demeanor and physical appearance at all times.
  • Develops professional relationships with library colleagues, fellow staff, faculty and students.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master of Library Science or a Master of Information Studies from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Library Science
  • Proven management ability with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in Library Science
