Job Summary
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at CU Boulder welcomes applications for a Research Engineer. This position will start in Summer/Fall 2023 and will involve the implementation of a rapid oxygen measurement technique for concentrated microbubble and nanobubble foams, synthesis and of oxygen microbubbles, and their use for total liquid ventilation (intratracheal repeated injection). Requires prior working experience with oxygen measurement of concentrated nanobubble foams and total liquid ventilation.

Who We Are
The Borden Lab focuses on four core elements of image-guided therapy:
- Colloid chemistry and interface science aspects of microbubbles and nanodrops;
- The physics of the acoustic interaction between the microbubble and the ultrasound pulse;
- Interactions between the microbubble and biomolecules, cells and tissues; and
- Novel applications of microbubbles for biomedical ultrasound imaging and therapy.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Implement a rapid oxygen measurement device for concentrated oxygen microbubble (OMB) suspensions;
- Synthesize and characterize OMBs;
- Research primary literature on oxygen bubbles and their treatment of hypoxia;
- Publish a review article;
- Research and develop new formulations;
- Test formulation for TLV (intratracheal repeated injection) with our clinical collaborators.
The starting salary for this position is $50,000 annually. No relocation assistance provided.

What We Require
PhD in biomedical engineering or a related field.
What You Will Need
Requires knowledge of oxygen measurement of concentrated nanobubble foams and total liquid ventilation, as well as synthesis of oxygen nanobubble and microbubble formulations, and familiarity with primary literature in the field of microbubble oxygenation.

Ability to work on a collaborative, multidisciplinary biomedical team.
