Coordinator of Greek and Student Leadership


Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Greek Life and Student Leadership will collaborate with the Assistant Dean to manage and provide support to Coppin’s fraternity/sorority system in support of the University’s mission. This position will be responsible for advising multiple governing councils, programmatic creation and implementation, and cultivating leadership development opportunities for CSU students. As an Office of Student Life member, the coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to departmental collaboration through building relationships.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Advise, manage, and support the governing councils, including facilitating and overseeing the membership recruitment and intake processes.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and assess the effectiveness of crucial community programs such as National Hazing Prevention Week, Greek Week, FSL End of the Year Banquet, etc.
  • Develop leadership opportunities and training to facilitate learning; this includes but is not limited to council transitions, risk management, harm reduction education, diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
  • Cultivate relationships and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • Provide referrals and guidance to fraternities and sororities regarding campus regulations, policies, procedures, fiscal responsibility, programming, and fraternity/sorority best practices.
  • Design outreach programs, create marketing/promotional materials, maintain websites, and oversee social media accounts to support fraternity/sorority community efforts.
  • Support the Assistant Dean of Campus Life and Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in community programs and efforts such as leadership development, committee participation, risk reduction workshops, curriculum design, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Master’s degree required, preferably in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or Student Affairs.
Experience:
  • Two years of experience (including graduate assistantship level work) in a fraternity and sorority program, working knowledge of the various governance systems/umbrella groups ( NIC, NPHC, NPC, and NALFO ) is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of student development theory and ability to apply theory, research, and best practices to advising, training, and educational efforts.
  • Utilization of AFA’s Core Competencies for the Excellence in the Profession and knowledge of NASPA, ACPA, and CAS standards.
  • Prefer demonstrated knowledge and experience with a student organization’s software management programs.
  • Create environments that value, respect, and engage with students of different backgrounds and facilitate interactions across differences for the fraternity/sorority community.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically, embrace complexity, handle competing priorities, balance multiple projects successfully, and adapt to trends.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to connect the work to the fraternal purpose and effectively communicate the value of the Fraternity and Sorority experience to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

Conditions of Employment

Maintain regular attendance and closely follows office reporting policies and procedures. The director must be flexible in terms of working after normal work hours on occasions when the job tasks require; travel as needed.
