Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Provost, the Associate Provost supports the Provost with management and execution of short and long-term academic priorities and initiatives, represents the Provost’s interest in meetings and plans and directs administrative, financial, and operational activities in the Provost’s office, including the supervision of staff. The Associate Provost develops and reviews policies, manages executive searches, organizes leadership retreats, facilitates and manages communications, handles the resolution of complex and sensitive situations, and works closely with the Provost’s leadership team to ensure follow-through for projects and activities. The Associate Provost supervises full-time staff members and works with the Provost to ensure the organizational structure meets current and emerging needs. In addition, the Associate Provost supports and helps coordinate the work of three vice-deans (of research, faculty affairs, and teacher education), and works closely with the executive administrator in the Office of the Provost.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in education or related field, doctorate preferred
• Seven to ten years in Higher Education administration; preferably in roles that required working with faculty and staff in academic affairs
• 5 years experience in budget administration, creating, maintaining and providing reports on budgets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in technologies that support project management, reporting and presentations

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the dual role of supporting senior management and building community within and across work teams for the greater good
• A track record of establishing and maintaining positive work relationships with diverse people across departments and divisions, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Excellent organizational skills, problem-detection and problem-solving skills
• A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
• The ability to set priorities and handle multiple assignments and deadlines;
• Experience learning new areas quickly
• Evidence of successful adaptation to change
• Excellent judgment while operating in a highly professional manner
• Familiarity with current and emerging trends in higher education, including familiarity with Teachers College, and/or the kinds of new challenges and opportunities Teachers College will likely face in the next 5 years
• A demonstrated ability to exercise a positive service-oriented attitude; exercise solid judgment; and handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy

Salary Range:

$141,200 - $176,500

Work Modality:

Primarily onsite with some flexibility for remote work
