Posting Summary:

The Director of Enrollment Research & Strategy reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management in the Division of Enrollment Management. The Director supports the design and implementation of strategic initiatives directly related to student enrollment and student success. As a key enrollment strategist, the Director provides data-driven, strategic vision and support for recruitment, admission, financial aid, registration and other new and continuing student enrollment priorities. The Director is a member of the senior leadership team and a principal day-to-day advisor on strategy and project management/execution for the Vice President, providing research, data, analytics that inform and guide strategic enrollment decision making across the entirety of the student lifecycle, from recruitment and enrollment through to persistence and graduation.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
  • This position assumes leadership and functional responsibility for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the data-related strategies and tactics of the Division.
  • The Director works collaboratively and cross-functionally within the Division (with the Offices of Admission, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Enrollment Marketing & Communications) and across the institution with critical partners such as the Office of Institutional Research and Office of Information Technology, to meet research, data, analytics and reporting needs of the Division and provide critical counsel on enrollment issues and initiatives.
  • The Director supports tracking, analysis and accountability through development and continuous improvement of a suite of tools including standardized reports, interactive dashboards, integrations and data visualizations, etc., to facilitate monitoring student enrollment, retention, and graduation trends and other key performance indicators.
  • The Director will draw on and make available valued external data and research through a variety of sources (i.e., National Student Clearinghouse, IPEDS, competitor benchmarking, labor market trends, etc.) to support enrollment planning.
  • This position will proactively design and develop a comprehensive Enrollment Management research agenda along with a research calendar, to deliver actionable intelligence that drives critical decisions.
  • The Director will have a facility with extracting, aggregating and analyzing data from various sources, and will understand how to manage the internal enrollment reporting landscape alongside other internal partners (e.g., build queries, clean datasets, quality control measures, visualizations, etc.)
  • This position, in concert with the VP and other leadership, supports the development and implementation of a strategic enrollment plan with measurable goals and objectives; proactively advises on enrollment barriers, concerns, and opportunities through the effective use of research, data, analytics, data visualization, reporting, etc.; designs and implements the Division’s research agenda; successfully represents the Division’s priorities as well as the College’s; and provides direct supervision or guidance to analysts, information systems and other staff, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • 5 to 8 plus years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment management, or institutuional research with a focus on enrollment management data
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, data visualization, reporting, etc., with experience cleaning and manipulating large, complex datasets, preferably in admissions, financial aid, or with other student records. Solid understanding of uses of student information within a higher education setting.
  • Advanced practical experience with data analysis software (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, SAS, SPSS, Excel, etc.). Demonstrated understanding of data structures and methods of data extraction and transformation. Experience with relational databases (e.g., student information systems and CRMs).
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize patterns, and present informed recommendations to support decision making in a clear and concise manner
  • Superior project management, organizational, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and communications skills.
  • Must have excellent interpretation, visualization and report preparation skills.
Salary Range:

$100,000 - $125,000
