Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to architect, implement and support large, complex enterprise software systems. This requires the use of in-depth and comprehensive knowledge in the technologies required to support these systems while also developing and leveraging best practices. The following are areas required for support of these systems:
- Participation in selecting/procuring software
solutions.
- Implementation of software system solutions.
- Performing, scheduling and managing maintenance and
upgrades.
- Performing system management operations including, but not
limited to, configuration, tuning, solution resource management,
etc....
- Provide solution domain knowledge expertise to others as
required.
The scope of this position covers the broad range of technical expertise required to develop, administer and maintain University Enterprise application systems including: - Design, direct, plan and implement upgrades, maintenance,
migrations and integrations involving new and existing
systems.
- Design, direct and implement systems automation
strategies.
- Systems and application monitoring and
troubleshooting.
- Systems performance and security analysis.
This position is responsible for the following duties: - Managing and coordinating major projects for enterprise
application installations, upgrades and deployments.
- Designing systems and planning strategies to support
integrations.
- Developing maintenance plans for large application
systems.
- Providing direction to team members to help support large
application systems in specialty areas.
- Leading team efforts in projects involving enterprise system
application installations, upgrades, maintenance and migrations for
specialty areas.
- May design and code software applications and scripts to
support systems integration, configuration, and management.
This position may have on-call responsibilities and participate in on-call after-hours support.
This position will make and contribute to decisions related to application design and implementation that affect the efficiency and integrity of business processes used campus wide.
A formal performance evaluation is completed annually. In addition, this position will be asked to provide weekly status updates to the supervisor and will attend regular project and staff meetings.
While this position largely performs work autonomously, as needed a supervisor or another technical staff member will review work based on the need and complexity of specific tasks and projects.
Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ITIL or ITSM
- Minimum of five years systems analysis, application
infrastructure support and/or software development experience
supporting diverse technologies in a complex integrated
environment, including experience with Unix, Windows, relational
databases, web application service administration and web based
software development
- Software development experience using SQL, HTML, Java, BASH,
Groovy or similar programming languages
- Experience using Windows/Linux/Unix based
environments
- Development experience using Oracle RDBMS or other relational
database systems
- Experience configuring database connectivity resources using
JDBC or similar tools
- Experience configuring web servers such as Apache HTTP
Server
- Experience with application server platforms and application
deployment methods
- Experience with continuous integration technologies and
techniques
- Experience with infrastructure management, configuration and
delivery
- Experience with version control management software and
techniques
- An understanding of the security issues involved in maintaining
and safeguarding institutional data
- Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring
