Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business Career Management and Employer Engagement (CMEE) team is seeking an Employer Engagement Manager who shares our passion for helping employer partners build their on-campus employment brand, navigate the complex university landscape, and optimize resources dedicated to hiring and attracting college talent.  If you like working with professionals to solve problems, applying critical thinking skills to make decisions, and are looking to develop and grow your own career, this may be the role for you!

The Employer Engagement Manager is an external-facing role, supporting employers of all sizes who are recruiting for career opportunities across a diverse set of industries. This position also works to centralize inbound employer inquires to create a more cohesive experience for new businesses interested in hiring students from our business degree programs across W. P. Carey (WPC).  This role provides a streamlined focus on fostering those relationships, in addition to supporting a portfolio of emerging partnerships.

This position is a part of the Employer Engagement team, reporting to the Director of Employer Engagement. The Employer Engagement team at large works in collaboration with our Operations and student-facing Career Management teams to help educate employers on the best ways to connect with students and alumni.  Other internal and external facing stakeholders throughout the school including faculty, staff leaders, and student-led organizations are partners in our work.

Essential Duties

Inbound Management (50%): 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all new businesses reaching out to recruit business students at ASU
  • Assess hiring needs to determine how to best prioritize and help recruiters understand the resources and strategies to get engaged with WPC and/or across the ASU community
  • Maintain and grow developing relationships across a diverse set of industries including, but not limited to the Non-Profit, Media/Entertainment, Hospitality, Real Estate, and Education sectors

Cross-unit and University Collaboration (25%):

  • Extensively utilize ASU’s computer-based recruiting management system, Handshake, to monitor and report on employer accounts to track recruiting activity and outcomes
  • Responsible for communication flow between internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the intersection of student and employer engagement is a high-value and high-impact experience
  • Work closely with colleagues across the WPC and ASU community to look for opportunities to partner and/or introduce employers 

Monitoring and Managing (15%):

  • Work cross-collaboratively to determine optimal ways to develop sustainable relationships at scale, track outcomes, and measure success
  • Understand how recruitment is currently operationalized at WPC for existing, developing, and new recruiting partners to help define how to streamline and improve the recruiting experience

Professional Practice (10%):

  • Develop a deep understanding of the degree programs offered at WPC and the best practices in recruiting to effectively advise on ways to engage that align to each employer’s talent needs
  • Maintain a working knowledge of local and national employment market trends and their actual and potential impact on the hiring of college students and graduates

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, communications, public relations, and/or related area; evidence of a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience applying problem-solving skills when working with clients and colleagues.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills including spelling and grammar.
  • Experience in relationship management working with internal and/or external clients; including but not limited to recruiters, students, faculty, and alumni.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting or with university stakeholders is preferred.
  • Ability to define optimal approaches and key messages to reach various audiences. 
  • Experience and desire to work with customers and clients to help them define and reach their objectives.
  • Experience in using critical thinking skills to help solve problems and make decisions. 
  • Ability to manage time and prioritizing projects to meet deadlines. 
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to successfully adapt and engage in change management environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Flexible Work Options:
This position is based on-campus at ASU’s Tempe Campus. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.  The team is currently offering flexible work arrangements in a hybrid structure*.
