Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Residential Experience is responsible for facilitating a living and learning environment that is conducive to the personal development and academic achievement of all residents while creating an inclusive first year residential experience. The Assistant Director will serve as the key staff member overseeing all aspects to the of the first-year housing model as well as direct oversight on the residential programming model. This is a full-time, live in position.

 

Job Duties

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership for Residence Life department, including supervision of first year building Resident Directors and Community Advisor staff.    
  • Manage oversight of a residential area and its operations, ensuring buildings are ready for openings and semester break closings; managing facilities concerns and accessing student concerns.
  • Oversee residence life programming model including but not limited to, program tracking, purchasing, attendance tracking and model updates.
  • Oversee the development of large residence life programs including but not limited to: Triad Block Party, Taste of Franklin, Late Night Breakfast and more.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and evaluation process for the Community Advisor staff.
  • Co-develop and implement Community Advisor training, in-services and mentorship program.
  • Serve as a Hearing Officer for high level conduct hearing, including serving as a Title IX investigator.
  • Participate in the Administrator on Call (AOC) rotation.
  • Serve as a Resident Director of a First-year building by overseeing day-to-day administration of assigned residential area consisting of student concerns, community events, student behavior concerns, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Compensation:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 
  • 2-4 years of previous experience in residence life or similar operational capacity.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to college life.
  • Commitment and ability to create and maintain a diverse, multicultural residential experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in multicultural issues with a focus on education and training.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, intervention and crisis management skills.
  • Experience working with computers preferred.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination and Vaccine Booster Shot required.
