Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions and Communications will oversee the communication plan for the division of Enrollment Management. The incumbent will supervise, hire, and lead a team of 2-4 full-time professionals and a group of student ambassadors to ensure that strategies are implemented.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-The Assistant Director will work closely with University Relations to ensure that all communications comply with the University’s branding standards and support the University’s marketing messages.
-Work in conjunction with the Admissions Technology Specialist to ensure the accuracy of communication lists, queries, mailing dates, and consistency of language across communication plans.
-Represent Fairmont State at recruitment events and develop quantitative and qualitative communications reports.
-Develop comprehensive transfer, non-traditional and early college recruitment plans, detailing communication and engagement strategies designed to increase the enrollment of transfer students.
-Responsible for weekly reporting on the ROI of lead purchases and strategies.
-Create a comprehensive and reliable method to calculate the cost, risk, and benefits of these purchases or acquisitions
- Analyze enrollment trends, develop, and implement recruiting strategies to support admissions goals set by university leadership and the Director of Admissions.
-Aids in the coordination of events such as Maroon and White Days, Academic Exploration Days, SOAR scholarship programs and orientations.
- Assist the Director of International Programs with recruitment strategy.
-Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training courses.
- Organize and direct multi-channel recruitment strategies including chat sessions, call campaigns, social media, and mailers.
- In collaboration with University Relations and Marketing, ensure that all communications comply with the University’s branding standards and support the University’s marketing messages.
- Manage, train, coach and lead the student ambassadors with objectives for day-to-day activities and provide information on admissions requirements, procedures and programs offered by the University.
-Training of staff on the use of the systems and finding ways to maximize the use of all our technologies, especially the CRM .
-Maintain an outcome tracking system ( SLATE ) to assess effectiveness of the recruitment plan with the team.
- Assist the Director of Admissions in the design and develop monthly and annual reports (quantitative and qualitative data) on highlighting successes and opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University to ensure students are navigating the enrollment process.
- Ensure team members are achieving desired performance levels with key metrics and provide training, as needed.
- Assess and coordinate professional development opportunities to keep the staff current with local and national recruitment standards, keeping in mind resource limitations.
-Performs active administration of university CRM tool (Slate).
-Fosters an environment of inclusion, access, and success in student recruitment.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

A minimum of three years (3) years of Student Services/Affairs experience.

-Oral and written communication is pivotal to performance of this position.
-Organizational skills are necessary in order to plan and execute each recruiting event. A firm understanding of the admissions process and higher education is also required.
-Proven work experience in dual enrollment programs.
-Ability to direct and organize people to achieve desired results.
-Eagerness and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and coaches to understand and define recruitment opportunities.
-Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
-Ability to meet deadlines.
-Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks with a student-centered attitude.
-Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and utilization.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related student services or education field preferred.

Experience teaching in a high school setting or working as a high school administrator preferred.

Knowledge of FERPA, higher education, enrollment management, admissions strategies, and experience with diverse student populations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
Strong public speaking skills and ability to engage large and small groups in a variety of settings. Strong analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure, especially during peak time or intense situations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural, customer service-oriented environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines
