ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/INSTRUCTOR OF GAME STUDIES AND INTERACTION DESIGN IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN, COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

INTRODUCTION/POSITION:

The Department of Art and Design at the University of Delaware seeks an Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach in the expanding fields of game studies and interaction design. The full-time member of the Art and Design faculty will join a vibrant community of artists and designers who provide dynamic learning experiences for a diverse and inclusive community of students. The position is a one-year temporary faculty position, with benefits, renewable for up to five years. The salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will possess skills with software to produce virtual/interactive environments/objects and demonstrated knowledge of how games are used to entertain, educate and create meaning. Successful candidates will also understand the role of play through a broader lens of interaction and user experience design. Preferable candidates will have demonstrated skills in software related to UX/UI. The faculty member will be a pedagogical bridge between the Game Studies and eSports degree programs and the Department of Art and Design, including (but not limited to) teaching Introduction to Art and Design for Games. The successful candidate will also teach courses involving 3D modeling and interaction design.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A terminal degree or equivalent professional experience in a related discipline is required, in addition to a record of successful teaching at the college/university level, with commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.
