Position: Full Time Lecturer, Urban Elementary Education
Effective Date: August 17, 2023 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: $5,405 -$11,994/per month (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Required Qualifications:

• M.A. or M.S. in Education or a related field with an emphasis on urban education, elementary education, elementary content area methods or another closely related area of education.
• An earned U.S. public school teaching credential
• Experience teaching in U.S. K-12 schools
• Demonstrated potential for effectiveness and excellence in teaching at the college level
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: urban education, elementary education, elementary content area methods or related field(s)
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a related field with an emphasis on urban education, elementary education, elementary content area methods or another closely related area of education. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2023.
• Potential for teaching effectiveness and excellence at the college level in teacher education, with an emphasis on post-baccalaureate courses in urban education, elementary education, K-8 methods
• Experience working with multilingual learners
• Experience teaching in diverse urban schools at the elementary level that serve populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the Southern California area
• Experience working at the K-3 level
• Experience with clinical practice in teacher education, such as K-12 partnerships or teacher residencies in elementary grades
• Experience in classroom-based research with K-12 partnerships
• Demonstrated ability in effective use of a wide range of instructional technologies pertaining to teacher education, including online teaching
• Demonstrated experience working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
• Demonstrated interest in or experience with Minority Serving Institutions

Duties:

Teach various courses may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Teaching and Learning in Diverse Contemporary Classrooms, Introduction to the Teaching Profession, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Schools, Teaching and Learning in a Democratic Society, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Schools, Student Teaching in Diverse Classrooms. Methods courses: Teaching and Learning in Language Arts, K-8; Teaching and Learning Reading, K-8; Teaching and Learning Mathematics, K-8; Teaching and Learning History-Social Science, K-8.

• Teach a range of courses in elementary education program [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof]
• Mentor and supervise students in the program
• Support and strengthen teacher residency programs
• Collaborate with local districts for teacher residency
• Supervise student teachers during practicum placements
• Contribute to college-wide and/or community-based efforts to address equity and opportunity gaps
• Participate in service and faculty governance through program, department, college and university meetings and committees
• Maintain a campus in-office work schedule aligned with department workload (following CSULB repopulation guidelines)
