Position Summary

The Department of Business Administration at New Mexico Highlands University ( NMHU ) is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Supply Chain Management beginning in August 2023. The department is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs ( ACBSP ) at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will teach supply chain management courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. This position will require the successful candidate to bring fresh scholarship to the discipline. All applicants should have a demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds and to advise and teach an undergraduate and graduate student body that is diverse with respect to socio-economic status, culture, and career path. Governmental entities look to hire thousands of new employees in the following years in the supply chain industry. As a result of a recent grant from a prominent national laboratory in the region, the Department of Business Administration is establishing a Supply Chain Management program. In turn, the candidate must have the ability to teach Operations Management and/or courses like supply chain, procurement, quality control, logistics, project management, decision sciences, and business analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and service to NMHU . The normal teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year with the exception of first year faculty who will teach 18 credit hours during their first year of service. The successful candidate should have experience teaching in various modalities, such as face-to-face, online (synchronous and asynchronous), hybrid (simultaneous face-to-face and online), and blended classes (combination of asynchronous and synchronous in the same class). Engagement in recruitment, advisement, and retention of students, as well as curriculum development is expected. The successful candidate is expected to develop relations with supply chain firms for internships or career placements. Participation in department meetings, and service to the department, the university, and the community are expected. The successful candidate must balance excellent teaching with scholarship and service. This person will also share faculty duties as they arise. Maintaining and developing established relationships with governmental entities is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

1. The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or related field is required. ABD status candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
2. Experience with online teaching is required.
3. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who demonstrate a strong background in transportation, procurement, and logistics education through prior publication or work experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in maintaining and developing governmental relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important.
  • Experience with culturally diverse population.
  • Having certificates or intentions to obtain industry-recognized certificates, such as PMP, Six Sigma, or related certificates.
