Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior IT Director for the Division of Business Services - the Systems Administrator will serve as a key member of the Business Services IT Team (BSD IT) responsible to propose solutions for the Division's Active Directory, server hardware, server configuration and application configuration. Contributes to Storage Area Networks system security design and incident response. Develops new scripts and works with change management tools to implement changes across multiple systems in support of data backup, data restore validation and mission continuity. Manages systems performance, responds to problems with machine room facilities and and cloud storage. Leads individual server projects and serves as subject matter expert on some technologies.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain optimal performance of systems such of the
division Storage Area Networks (SANs), data backup and restore
procedures, develop and maintain the mission continuity validation
procedures and restore documentation by area of responsibility,
including systems replication and fail over.
- The infrastructure services team manages all operations on
systems including managing the Division's Windows Domain
Organizational Units, Group Policy Objects, and members servers,
including Systems logging, auditing, and data backup. Monitor the
Division's data replication across the two data centers. Administer
and manage the Division's cloud blob and cloud hot-storage, and
maintenance and upgrades of software and hardware, backups and
archiving, security and account management, ensures the consistent
and appropriate performance of software, and appropriate
integration of systems and data.
- As part of the Systems team, act as a backup to the
Infrastructure VMware and Firewall administrator, providing
virtualization and firewall support. Act as an internal technical
resource for other support staff. Implement solutions to improve
efficiencies. Act as the escalation point for helpdesk requests
related to supported applications and servers.
- Develop and maintain physical and virtual server security
solutions; work with the ISC and BSD IT database and application
teams to support and third-party applications as well as those
developed in-house. Monitor and respond to triggers generated by
Security monitoring systems work with team on remediation of
critical events working collaboratively with ISC and others on
campus.
- Keeps abreast of current technology; perform product
research/design- Participate in research and evaluate information
security controls for the division and implement and manage
solutions that limit exposure of credentials and data.
- Analyzes functional requirements and advises functional leads
in the planning, selection, implementation and use of solutions to
address business requirements; Develops or manages vendor
relationships in support of tools, applications and systems in use
by the IT team and selected businesses in the division.
- Participate in cross-university teams to evaluate, establish,
and/or deploy new technologies or processes for the
division/department/ school. May be called upon to work on
projects, either independently, as a key participant, or as a
functional leader. May be designated to serve as a subject matter
expert on some technologies.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years of experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
7-10 years experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years experience working with Storage Area
Networks, Windows Active Directory, cloud storage and disaster
recovery/backup solutions is preferred.
- Project Management and Linux skills are desirable but not
required.
- Experience with Storage Area Networks, Windows Active
Directory, cloud storage and Veeam backup solution.
- Experience with VMWare, FortiGate Firewalls and VPNs
- Hands-on expertise and demonstrated experience with cloud-based
environments and familiarity with data-security protocols,
practices, and technologies is a plus.
- Ability to work on projects, either independently, as a key
participant, or as a functional leader.
- Have solid technological adaptability.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and remediation
complex technical issues.
- Strong team player and collaborator. Excellent interpersonal
skills are essential.
Targeted Pay Range: $51,824.00 - $95,000.00
