Summary
The Associate Director for Dining and Catering Services is responsible for managing catering operations and supporting general dining services for University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louiss dining services. The position is responsible for coordinating with University events staff, and other groups requesting catering to establish budgets and menus. Plans and works with dining services staff to execute catering.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all catering activities, books, plans & directed functions. Meets with university members to customize their catering events and offers suggestions to meet their needs;
  • Attends campus catering events and ensures client satisfaction.
  • Works in conjunction with lead cooks and dining services director to plan menus for events;
  • Train catering staff in service techniques, menu presentation and customer service.
  • Track and monitor the labor and food cost for each event.
  • Develop and maintain the catering marketing plan, including a comprehensive event planning service to clients and detailed menu development.
  • Hire, train, and schedule catering specific staff, as necessary, and be actively involved in the development of existing dining services staff in service techniques, menu presentation and customer service.
  • Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements.
  • Ensure successful operations of catering functions including labor cost, food cost control and preparation, transportation, setup, operation, and clean up of all events.
  • Support overall dining operations by: serving as secondary payroll approver for cafe operations, supporting hiring training of cafe staff, and supporting dining services manager with reporting of operating statements, reports, and operational budgets, and review of the collection of receivables.


  • Qualifications

    To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One (1) to three (3) years experience in food preparation is essential.
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Servsafe Certification
  • Be customer-service driven
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain multiple priorities and multitask
  • Work effectively in a typical food service environment which may include loud noises, fast paced, large numbers of people, high volume activity, etc.
  • Familiarity with menu costing procedures
