Job Details

The Department of Counseling and Professional Studies at Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for a clinical faculty position in doctoral research and writing. Housed in the College of Education and Human Performance, the Department of Counseling and Professional Studies currently offers graduate certificates and master's degrees in education and counseling, and the Doctor of Education in Rural and Diverse Educational Leadership. This position begins July 1, 2023 and is a 12-month position.

Duties: teach the equivalent of 9 doctoral-level hours (3 courses or the equivalent) each semester; guide students through the dissertation process serving as dissertation committee chair and on dissertation committees as non-chair member; lead sections of comprehensive examinations; gather and analyze candidate data for instructional and program improvement; participate in retention activities for the doctoral program; engage in limited service opportunities for the program, department, college, and university; guide, assess, and evaluate doctoral students' writing; maintain the Ed.D. Writing Coaching resources; work collaboratively with colleagues; assist with preparing program reports for university, state, and national accreditation reports and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in education; minimum of (5) five years teaching experience in college/university setting; evidence of teaching on line at the graduate level and specifically the doctoral level; strong interpersonal skills; leadership qualities that promote teamwork and the capacity to balance team and individual responsibilities; highly nuanced communication skills; demonstrated success serving students with diverse backgrounds. Prioritization will be given to candidates with experience in doctoral teaching, thesis and dissertation guidance, intensive doctoral-level writing coaching, and funded scholarly activity.
