The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus is currently looking for candidates for a teaching and research tenured track position in the area of Literature at the Department of Hispanic Studies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must 1) have earned a PhD in Hispanic Studies, Spanish, or Hispanic Literature; 2) to be able to demonstrate experience or high potential for excellence in teaching, research and publishing in Hispanic Caribbean literature and its diasporas. Other areas of interest include Spanish American and transatlantic literature, or any combination thereof; (3) show potential and availability for teaching core and service courses, such as research methods, literary theory, women's and gender studies, academic literacy, and basic Spanish; and (4) possess excellent communication skills and native or nearnative competence in Spanish. Knowledge and experience in women's and gender studies is desirable to strengthen the curricular sequence in this area of study.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The selected candidate will (1) teach graduate and undergraduate-level courses in the areas of Caribbean literature, Latin American literature, women's and gender studies and other program core courses, as well as some service courses should it be necessary; (2) be available to preside or participate in thesis committees, as well as graduate and undergraduate mentoring activities; (3) develop and coordinate research projects in some of the aforementioned areas; (4) periodically publish and present their research papers in refereed conferences and journals; (5) procured and obtain external funding to promote the growth of research activities (6) collaborate in the development of the academic offering thought revision and design of courses or curricular sequences; (7) participate in faculty committees and activities related to assessment and continuous improvement, outreach and promotion, and other services supporting the program and the institution.
