Job Description

Position is 40-hours per week/12 months per year.

This position is for a certified speech-language pathologist ( SLP ) who can work with a wide range of clients for evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders in the Gebbie Speech-Language Clinic. The position will require direct service provision, some on-site student supervision, and assisting the clinic director with management of local externships in the community.

Direct service provision will include speech language treatment/assessment for clinical populations across the life span, although with a focus on pediatric/school-age populations. Additional areas of expertise are desired including voice disorder evaluation and treatment and in evaluation for and intervention including Augmentative and Alternative Communication ( AAC ) devices. The position will also include some supervision of students in the Gebbie Clinic and assisting with the coordination of local externship placements for students in the community. The position is full-time (12 months, 40 hours/week) and some shifted evening hours will be required to accommodate after-school client schedules.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required. Must have ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology plus at least one year of additional clinical experience. Must possess or be eligible for NY state license in Speech-Language Pathology.

Job Specific Qualifications

Experience working with adults and children who have speech and language disorders required, particularly pre-school and school-age children. Experience working with children and adults with voice disorders and with alternative and augmentative communication ( AAC ) needs is preferred but not required. Experience supervising students is desirable. Candidates should have the ability to develop connections with local professionals and sites in the community and communication skills to maintain strong relationships between the Gebbie Clinic and local sites.

Responsibilities
  • Perform speech-language treatment/evaluation sessions with children/adults in Gebbie Clinic.
  • Assisting clinic director with coordination of externships including establishing contracts with local sites, placing students, and monitoring these student placements.
  • Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in the Gebbie clinic.
  • Other duties as assigned
