Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. Position Description
The Department of Physics invites applicants for a lecturer position. Teaching responsibilities would include introductory physics lectures and laboratories. The department has a strong and proven reputation for educating and training women of African descent to excel in STEM related fields. As such, the department is seeking a scholar-teacher dedicated to excellence in teaching and related activities and the continued enhancement of the academic environment for students and colleagues. This includes a demonstrated interest in mentoring diverse populations. The candidate should share our department’s commitment to ongoing improvement of physics pedagogy, as well as teaching lectures and labs at all levels of undergraduate physics, and an ability to contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching and curriculum development in a liberal arts environment.

General Physics I and II (lecture and laboratory), Introduction to Astronomy
Qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate discipline (e.g. physics) at the time of application.
