Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Baseball Coach will be responsible for:
  • Adhering to and enforcing all policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics and the University of Missouri, as well as rules and regulations of the SEC, NCAA and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Overseeing the recruitment and selection of student-athletes and ensuring compliance with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects and initiating the process of determining academic eligibility and issuing National Letters of Intent.
  • Providing leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, to include counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters, where appropriate.
  • Monitoring the eligibility status and promoting the academic progress of student-athletes by working closely with Academic and Compliance Services, including assisting in enforcing study hall attendance for referred first-year students and others with grade deficiencies.
  • Developing and submitting the sport’s annual budget and managing the sport’s program within the framework of a balanced budget.
  • Scheduling and conducting regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and as a team.
  • Arranging a competitive event schedule in conjunction with the assigned sport administrator.
  • Ensuring that team travel arrangements comply with University, SEC and NCAA rules and regulations, including monitoring the development of travel itineraries.
  • Overseeing the conditioning and training of team members, in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic training staff to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition.
  • Hiring and supervising assigned personnel to ensure their compliance with applicable rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations of staff members.
Salary

Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience leading a NCAA Division I Baseball Program
