Job Summary:

This is a key position that works directly with principal investigators and/or research staff to prepare, route, and submit funding proposals to sponsors. The person will review, advise, and assist faculty in developing and submitting grant applications, contract proposals, progress and final reports (and related budgets for all). This includes:

- Submit and monitor all grant application for departmental faculty and facilitate joint proposal as needed
- Maintain investigators Other Support documents needed for all grants application
- Independently maintain all files of publications of Department faculty members:
- Serve as the NIH Public Access Policy Captain for the Department
- Monitor all publications for compliance
- Maintain e-mail database of alumni

Responsibilities: Works directly with principal investigator and/or research staff to identify funding opportunities and prepare and route proposals for submission to sponsor. Reviews subsequent award terms and conditions and facilitates award setup and administration.
  • 40% Prepares and routes proposals, award documents, and sponsored project agreements according to established policies and procedures while adhering closely to deadlines
  • 35% Reviews proposal budgets and ensures allowability and accuracy of requested costs per sponsor and campus guidelines
  • 5% May work with campus partners to establish new accounts in the financial accounting system
  • 5% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators
  • 5% Serve as the NIH Public Access Policy Captain for the department
  • 10% Evaluates post-award grants and contracts management of sponsored program budgets and compliance with policies and procedures

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences, social sciences, business, or related field.

Qualifications:

Preferences
- Experience or familiarity in research, sponsored programs administration either in a medical, research, or educational setting.
- Take initiative in problem-solving, organizational skills, and attention to written detail.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, manage competing priorities, and demonstrate effective time management.
- A highly skilled communicator with ability to assume complex responsibilities, build and develop sound partnerships for joint proposals, and engage professionally with a wide variety of individuals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Filemaker Pro, and other relevant software for database updates, preparing and reviewing publications, grant applications, etc.
- Knowledge of NIH research grant principles and regulations is a plus.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:
