Senior Lecturer

Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 520542), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to build upon our proud traditions and strengths by engaging in innovative, high-impact, and leading-edge research and development, creating a learning environment that maximizes the potential of all students, producing well-trained and enthusiastic mechanical and building service engineers and research graduates, and serving the local and international community and industry.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, and a minimum of six years’ relevant experience with demonstrated accomplishments in teaching; contributions in knowledge exchange, curriculum development, pedagogy and administrative services. The Department places emphasis on opportunities in experiential learning, so applicants with proven capability to implement these approaches will have a definite advantage, especially on areas of current interests to students and teaching staff, e.g. robotics and automotive. Taught postgraduate programs now occupy a significant sector of the educational initiatives of the Department, therefore those with knowledge in master level courses in mechanical and relevant engineering subjects will be highly preferred.

The appointee is expected to be responsible for quality teaching in relevant subjects in mechanical engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervision of student projects, undertaking course design and curriculum development and active participation in knowledge exchange. He/She will also be required to contribute to the University administrative services. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
