Postdoctoral Research Associate - Computational Biophysics

About the Opportunity

The SymBioSys Lab (www.simbiosyslab.com) is seeking an independent and creative
postdoctoral associate to support research on computational modeling of complex
biomolecular systems in the broad field of glycoprotein-based therapeutic design. The
available position is in the Chemical Engineering Department of Northeastern University
(Boston Campus). Our laboratory values diversity and expects all lab members to foster
a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. The duties and responsibilities for this
position may include, but are not limited to:
  • Set up and run computational models and simulations of biomolecular systems
  • Design and implement research ideas independently and in association with the
    supervisor and other collaborators
  • Analyze large-scale data utilizing robust statistical methods and machine learning
  • Provide meticulous documentation, code development, maintenance, and
    summarization of results
  • Develop and write reports, publications, and grants
  • Attend and participate in research meetings and seminars
  • Participate in career development training workshops/sessions and networking
    opportunities for research and mentoring
  • Guide and mentor graduate or undergraduate students, including participation in
training to improve these skills as needed
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
It is expected that the postdoctoral associate will develop and execute a career
development plan in coordination with the PI.
About our lab: The overarching goal in our laboratory is to develop novel computer-driven
solutions to glycoprotein-based biomedical challenges. Two independent thrusts
targeting viral vaccine engineering and biomaterial design form the current research
focus. This is a cross-disciplinary group at the interface of Chemical Engineering,
Biochemistry, Physics and Computer Science. All research is expected to occur in
association with other experimental collaborators (both intra- and extramural).

    Qualifications:

Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; be able to undertake substantially
full-time research or scholarship; work under the supervision of a
senior scholar. This position requires excellent communication skills,
both interpersonal and scientific, oral, and written. All candidates
should provide a detailed CV, research statement and contact
information of three or more academic/professional references.
