** Successful candidates in these temporary appointments may be appointed for a few days up to one year depending on the assignment. Temporary appointments must end on or before the end of the fiscal year, with the possibility of renewal if funds and/or program needs exist.

Classification Title: Equipment/Systems Specialist - Foundation

Classification Salary Range: $3,3380 - $5,573 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $3,338 - $3,815 per month.

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under the direct supervisor of the Associate Director, Technolgy Enabled Spaces, the Technology Support Technician is responsible for the functional technical equipment/systems support and capabilities, including the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of equipment, products, low-voltage wiring/cabling, and/or systems within campus learning spaces (e.g., classrooms, labs, study rooms, etc.) and conference rooms. This incumbent works with the Associate Director and career technicians to configure, update, and maintain the Global Viewer system to monitor equipment life cycles and contributes to evening operations, video conferencing, and special event support, as needed.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose equipment and/or system malfunctions and perform corrective action.
  • Use of appropriate test structures.
  • Pre-test and configure equipment and/or systems following service procedure.
  • Research system/equipment malfunction history.
  • Work with a manager or career level Technicians to analyze and adjust equipment to restore proper operation
  • Assist in planning and implementing installations and/or facility layouts.
  • Install and test PC/workstations, printers, and other peripherals.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An associate of arts degree in electronics, telecommunications, or industrial technology or equivalent education, training, and/or directly related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical systems and equipment is a prerequisite.
  • Ability to differentiate between hardware and software problems.
  • Ability and manual dexterity to assemble components and parts, and/or cable or wiring, by reading and interpreting reference manuals and schematics.
  • General knowledge of digital and analog theories (or related technical areas) and ability to apply these in resolving equipment repair and system performance problems.
  • May possess specialized vendor training or licenses as required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal education in Audio Visual, Electronics, or related fields.
  • Experience in a higher education environment
