Assistant Director - Graduate Student Services

About the Opportunity

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences seeks an individual to provide advising and student services support to master's students at the Arlington campus.

The Assistant Director will provide professional support to the Senior Director of Graduate Student Services and Career Development and implement all on-ground programming for students at the Arlington campus. The Assistant Director will manage all graduate program administrative activities including advising students on academic and curriculum/registration matters; serve as liaison between the Graduate School, Arlington campus staff, and other University offices that handle matters pertaining to graduate students. They will manage and maintain the graduate student records utilizing Salesforces, Navigate, and Banner systems; Prepare advising data for the Director of Computing Programs in Arlington, Senior Director of Graduate Student Services and Career Development, and the Director of Network Programs. The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services also will oversee all student employment hiring for the CS program.

Responsibilities:

Lead & Supervise Grad Student Services for all Khoury Arlington programs.
  • Advise students regarding curriculum requirements, academic and university policies, and registration procedures.
  • Oversee the advising support for students on academic probation or who are not making satisfactory progress.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Graduate Student Services on student conduct and disciplinary matters.
  • Serve as SEVIS contact for the Arlington campus, processing F1 student forms.


Manage events, programming and special projects for graduate student services:
  • Serve as the key liaison for event planning, scheduling, and execution for the graduate student services for the Arlington campus. Events may include social gatherings, student town hall meetings, and graduate advising workshops.
  • Work closely with Arlington Campus personnel, the Senior Director of Grad SS, and the Director of Computing Programs in Arlington to deliver academic, social, and career focused programming that will positively influence the graduate student experience across all programs. Tasks will include booking rooms, organizing the RSVPs and registration for attendees, ordering food, managing the event, and managing any follow up with attendees or administrators.


Supervise part-time/full-time employees that support graduate operations.
  • Serve as the hiring manager for graduate teaching assistants and student ambassador at the Arlington campus.
  • Help train student employees in college conduct policies and effective pedagogy utilizing central college materials.
  • Eventually supervise graduate student services coordinator(s) to be hired as campus enrollment grows.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Two to three years of experience in higher education required. Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook. Exceptional organizational and critical thinking skills.
