Job context:

The Connectomiics of Anxiety and Depression (CAD) Lab is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware. The lab is headed by Dr. Jeffery Spielberg, Principal Investigator (PI). The CAD lab seeks to identify and understand the developmental mechanisms that lead to pathological anxiety and depression during adolescence, with a focus of the circuitry supporting the expression and regulation of emotion. The researcher will contribute to an ongoing NIMH-funded R01 grant examining longitudinal change in brain networks that contribute to anxiety development during early adolescence, with a focus on pubertal hormones.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze human MRI data
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Collaborate with graduate students and assist in their training
  • Assist with supervision of data collection
  • Participate in grant writing
  • Contribute to various aspects of laboratory management
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or related disciplines
  • Experience processing and analyzing structural, functional, and/or diffusion MRI data
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., MATLAB, python)
  • Previous human MRI publications- Interest in adolescent development, emotion/motivation, and/or anxiety
  • Clinical training (e.g., SCID/KSADS administration) and/or experience with network analysis (e.g., graph theory) are not required, but would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
