Job Description
Under the general direction of the Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, performs administrative functions implementing and assisting with the planning, organizing and directing of day-to-day operations of the Center. Represents the Center in working with faculty on various programs, projects, events, and activities as well as with organizations at the community, national, and international level.
Salary Range

Essential Duties
- Assists in the management of the Center and serves as a resource for the Director regarding various administrative requirements, academic projects, public programs, and events.
- Assists in the design, development, coordination of Center academic and public programs and oversees their implementation.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff and student workers.
- Monitors work in progress and through completion.

- Oversees and participates in planning, developing and administering Center budgets.
- Prepares and/or coordinates preparation of financial and administrative reports, Center success metrics, fiscal data, management tools, and other planning data needed to predict resource needs and develop long range plans.
- Coordinates Center student programs, including fellowships, certificates, and scholarships.
- Assists with the development and implementation of long- and short-range Center goals. Develops objectives and activities based on Center goals.
- Develops, maintains, and implements Center policies and procedures.
- Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating Center programs.
- Communicates with Center donors and facilitates donor development initiatives in coordination with internal and external partners.
- Resolves problems and issues affecting the Center and recommends measures to resolve them and improve the Center’s effectiveness and efficiency.
- May act in place of the Director in that person's absence.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of higher education principles and practices, including curriculum and/or research development in the humanities or social sciences.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the study of religion and public life as demonstrated by a post-graduate degree AND/OR experience in a research, public policy, government, non-profit, or similar organization that would provide comparable knowledge and understanding.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona State University policies, procedures and systems.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines, and working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- Experience maintaining positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational management principles and supervisory practices and demonstrated experience effectively managing, mentoring, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Experience in analyzing, anticipating, and developing effective solutions for various problems (logistical, organizational, etc.).
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning principles and practices and demonstrated expertise in budget preparation, forecasting, reporting, and account management oversight.
- Experience in event planning and managing a range of events, meetings, and activities, including negotiating varying priorities, operating within established policies and protocols, and working with event vendors and contracts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software and applications, including but not limited to, products such as: Salesforce for customer relationship management, Teamwork for project management, Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Applications, Adobe Creative Cloud Applications, web publishing software packages such as Drupal, etc.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting on the ASU Tempe campus with a hybrid work option.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Required to occasionally travel moderate distances on campus and to off-campus event locations to perform work.
- Occasional evenings and weekends are expected.
