The Department of Teaching and Learning of Peabody College invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Language, Literacy, and Culture education. We are looking for a scholar trained in language and literacy studies and their closely associated fields (e.g., linguistics, reading, writing, multilingual learning, literacy studies, and English education).  We are interested in research on a broad range of literacy topics and contexts including research that occurs in schools, homes, and community settings. For a Senior/Associate candidate, we are especially seeking a scholar with a strong record of funding, publication, and leadership. For an Assistant candidate, we are seeking a developing record of publication and a strong potential for funding. Successful applicants will also have experiences and interests that allow them to teach and mentor students in our undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. These programs include: the Language, Literacy, and Culture concentration of our Learning, Teaching and Diversity Ph.D. program, the Reading Education M.Ed. program, the English Education M.Ed. program, the English Language Learners M.Ed. program, or our Bachelor’s and Masters’ level teacher credentialing programs for elementary/early childhood or secondary school teachers.

We will review applications beginning September 1, 2023, and will continue until the positions are filled. Applicants should submit: 1) a letter of interest that addresses their program of research (for Senior/Associate applicants, please include a description of funding), teaching experiences, and commitments to equitable and inclusive education; 2) three publications (or manuscripts in progress); 3)a current vita, and  4) the names of three scholars who will write letters of recommendation. The committee will request letters of recommendation from a small group of finalists.   Please apply at the following link: http://apply.interfolio.com/120874
