Salary & Benefits:        Starting Salary of $44,271.42 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule.  Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Santa Fe College is seeking a Communications Specialist who can produce and edit content and marketing materials aligned to the college brand and strategic priorities. This position is an integral part of the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) department and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications. The mission of the department is to strategically advance the stature of the college and to improve the recruitment and retention of our students by producing and providing direction for online, print, and promotional materials, as well as consistent and meaningful media relations. This position collaborates with college-wide departments to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for internal and external communications. 


Responsibilities and duties may include:
•    Writes and edits content for all internal marketing and visibility materials produced by MarCom, including website materials, assistance with social media, radio and video scripts, advertisements, brochures and other promotional copy, and articles and announcements for newSFeed.
•    Maintains daily news through the college blog (newSFeed) and listerv and maintains the college website calendar. Processes requests and timely announcements into professional, external facing content, adhering to the college style guide. 
•    Serves as back up for social media management (monitoring and answering). Will require some evening and weekend hours at least once per month. 
•    Coordinate with web designers to ensure content on the website is accurate, clear, concise and inclusive. Utilize Content Management System (CMS) tools and SiteImprove to help ensure the content and file uploads are accessible. 
•    Reviews, proofs and edits all college-wide publications for adherence to AP and SF styles and usage, as well as knowledge of grammar rules and punctuation. 
•    Writes manuals that set forth college procedures and explains how to use customized software, CMS, and SF signature guide. 
•    Develops and maintains professional relationships with members of the media to publicize the college. Promptly replies to media inquiries, escorts reporters on campus, tracks media coverage via newspaper clippings and online media services and assists SF departments with media interviews. Add articles to archive files for future reference. 
•    Supervises writing interns as needed. 
•    Assist in writing descriptions and preparing entries for state, regional and national awards.
•    Serves as back up on the Emergency Management Team and assists with crisis communication needs as required by the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications. 
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications.

Qualifications

Required:  A Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or a related communications field, and at least two years of closely related work experience in communications, media, social media, public relations or content management systems; or AA and 4 years of related experience are required. 
•    Candidate must have superior written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, HTML, Microsoft Office, and Adobe CS. 
•    This position requires the ability to effective cross-manage multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail. 
•    Awareness of emerging trends in education and communications technology is a must. 

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

•    Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
