Job Summary

The Graduate Admissions Evaluator is responsible for supporting the general operations of the admissions cycle, and dissemination of information related to admissions to prospective students, departments and colleges, and to the general public.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor special populations of admitted students and coordinate with departments and colleges to resolve issues.
  • Interpret admission policies, communicate policies and procedures to prospective students and campus departments and colleges, and recommend changes in procedures and practices.
  • Ensure accuracy of student data, update online admissions information, and maintain the online university application.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions and establish quality control guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience with on-line student information systems and Microsoft Excel. Experience in running reports on student data for production management purposes. Demonstrated ability to analyze system programs and propose solutions.
  • Knowledge of admission policies and requirements. Ability to use knowledge to resolve issues and respond to complex requests.
  • Experience researching academic information to determine applicable rules and regulations, preferred.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with supervisors, subordinates, peers, faculty, administrators, and staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Treats all customers (students, faculty and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision.
  • Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor.
  • Ensures quality, usability and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation required. Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred.
Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,866- $5,440 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
