Job Description

Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is seeking a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) faculty member to fill a position starting August 2023. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. We are looking for an HVAC professional who is ready to help prepare the next generation of HVAC technicians. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment, and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Faculty duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, professional inquiry, committee work and utilizing instructional technology. The majority of our courses use open educational resources (OERs) to yield cost savings for the students and the most current content for faculty. Incoming faculty will utilize OERs in alignment with the other faculty in the discipline.

Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Montgomery College has three campuses and instructs courses at area high schools. Faculty may be assigned to any of these campuses and/or teaching online.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Teaching courses in HVAC and related subjects
  • Advising HVAC students
  • HVAC lab development and maintenance
  • Advising and assisting the department with HVAC curriculum development and maintenance
  • Maintaining an active program of personal professional development
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate or higher degree in any academic discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years field experience in HVAC
  • Three years of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE)
  • Master HVAC license (or equivalent)
  • Universal EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College teaching experience in HVAC
  • Gas Fitter and/or Plumber journey or master license
  • Experience in CTE curriculum development and implementation
  • Experience in CTE lab development and implementation
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with local residential construction industry
  • Experience teaching and administering EPA Section 608 Technician Certification exam
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
  • Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academic success.
Hiring Range is $62,319 to $91,218, annually.
