Description
Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) seeks to appoint a Visiting Scholar for an academic year in Asian American Studies beginning on July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will teach four courses, including a gateway introductory course. We are particularly interested in a scholar who can teach and engage in discussions about the field in exciting and fresh ways. The teaching assignment of four courses will be distributed across the fall, winter and spring quarters. This is a non-tenure track position with the possibility of renewal for a second year depending on the staffing needs of the program. The position comes with a competitive salary, benefits eligibility, and modest travel/research funds.
Dartmouth is highly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive population of students, faculty, and staff. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, including but not limited to: racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ communities, individuals with disabilities, individuals from lower income backgrounds, and/or first-generation college graduates. Applicants should state in their cover letter how their teaching, research, service, and/or life experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth’s commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or be ABD with degree conferred by September 2023) in any field related to Asian American Studies, particularly the humanities, humanistically oriented social sciences, and the arts broadly construed in scholarly and interdisciplinary ways. Depending on the candidate, a host department or program will be identified, including Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and English. In evaluating the applications, we will consider evidence of teaching experience and/or potential, as well as evidence of an active research program.
Application Instructions
Please submit all materials electronically via Interfolio:
1. Cover letter, addressed to Professors Eng-Beng Lim and Jodi Kim;
