Job Summary:

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.

This position will work within the Pediatric Neuromodulation Laboratory (PI: Bernadette Gillick) and will conduct research incorporating neuroimaging, neuromodulation using transcranial magnetic stimulation/electromyography and stereotactic neuro-navigation and behavioral outcomes in early brain injury. In addition to opportunities for independent related study opportunities for this position, the Scientist will be directly involved in a lead role in an early brain injury study funded by a 5- year NIH R01 award and other related pediatric neuromodulation grants/studies. This will include longitudinal neuroimaging analysis, in conjunction with neuromodulation/electrophysiologic and motor/behavioral assessments. The position includes opportunity for involvement in independently led studies, other related studies, and development of new studies/grant applications. Under the direction of the PI, the Scientist will mentor and direct activities of the laboratory trainees (students, PhD students, post-doctoral fellows) in advancing their academic development and productivity.
