Position Summary

The position supports the design and development of IT systems serving the college's educational, administrative and outreach needs. The incumbent works on projects and resolves operational tickets involving new solutions and enhancement of existing ones.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies system enhancements and follows organizational standards for full life-cycle implementation or upgrades.
  • Assesses the feasibility of new solutions and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Supports project stakeholders in translating their business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Provides timely support to faculty, students, and staff in optimizing the applications and systems in the organization's technology landscape.
  • Performs system upgrades and fixes, conducts root cause analysis of technical issues, and develops standard procedures for troubleshooting and system maintenance.
  • Creates visualizations and reports for users using available Business Intelligence (BI) and application-specific reporting platforms.
  • Coordinates with vendors on the delivery of agreed-upon licenses and services.
  • Remains aware of all emerging technologies and makes recommendations about their adoption.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 7-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in research, medical or educational field is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to participate as a team member and work independently, self-start, and safeguard confidential information.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to train users and document manuals etc. Fluent in English.
  • Understanding of scope management, smart planning, and agile implementation.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think through solutions.
  • Knowledge of any programming language/s.
  • Ability to write code and scripts for process and workflow automation.
  • Practical experience in database management, SQL and data extraction and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in any of the following
    • Software development, system analysis, and project management.
    • Student Information System (SIS), Curriculum Management System (CMS), or Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Applications that deal with assessment, examination, and collaboration.
    • Data analysis and reporting services systems.
    • Cloud-based process automation systems, customer relationship management systems, website content management systems, or intranet platforms.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
    • Understands website design, marketing and multimedia tools and resources and has keen insight into visual design and composition.
    • Knowledgeable in using enterprise architecture models (TOGAFF, Zachman Framework etc.)
    • Working knowledge of the architecture, services, and standard cybersecurity principles of cloud applications.

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation (QF). The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at the university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated Six-Year Medical Program that incorporates pre-medical and medical studies and leads to the Cornell University M.D. degree.
