Overview

The Kahneman-Treisman Center for Behavioral Science & Public Policy, housed within the School of Public and International Affairs, is an interdisciplinary center at Princeton University that leverages the combined strengths of scholars and faculty experts in human decision-making and judgment to help design behaviorally informed policies, practices, and products.

The Center seeks a bright and motivated research assistant to work primarily with the Center’s director to provide broad and research support. Research in the professor’s group focuses on reasoning, judgment, and decision-making, and issues related to social and cognitive psychology, behavioral economics and policy.

The position provides an excellent opportunity to develop research and analysis skills, and to learn about the psychology of judgment and decision making. The successful applicant will be an energetic, self-directed learner with strong researching and writing abilities and keen research interests.

This is a 10-month term position with an anticipated start date of September 2023.



Responsibilities

Assist with faculty research
• Conduct thorough literature reviews
• Draft protocols and manage compliance processes
• Design and implement online experiments
• Coordinate participant recruitment and work with human subjects
• Process and analyze study data

Assist in the everyday management of the Center
• Process research-related expenses through Concur system
• Maintain and order necessary supplies



Qualifications

ESSENTIAL Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics, data science, or related fields
• Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and independence, use sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, possess strong organizational skills, and be flexible as demands and priorities change. Excellent research and communication skills are required;
• Knowledge of standard office applications and internet tools.

PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, and Other Education

• Some programming ability (R, Stata, Python or equivalent) desirable.
