Clinical Assistant Professor - Graphic Communications

Location: 200P Godfrey Hall

Description

Description: Full-time, nine-month position based on a yearly renewable contract to teach undergraduate courses and labs in one of the country's premier graphic communications degree programs. Applicant must fit within our highly technical, hands-on oriented philosophy and have extensive experience in the following areas:

• Contract proofing system management, Esko workflow and automation, and general file server upkeep

• Development and delivery of curriculum and hands-on laboratory experiences with all the necessary components of a modern Ink & Substrates focused class (color management & measurement, ink & substrate interactions, color proofing, lighting & tolerances, brand specifications, etc.)

• Database system development and management for student, alumni and industry partner activity tracking • Student internship coordination (event management, industry contacts, student liason, etc.)

• Active, well known, and respected within the broader Graphic Communications industry in areas related to color, print reproduction and/or flexography. Responsibilities: Successful applicants to this position will be expected to teach undergraduate graphic communication courses, including intensive hands-on laboratory courses and classroom theory. They will also assist with course and curriculum development, advise students, develop and help maintain laboratories, develop and maintain industrial relationships, develop working relationships in other departments and colleges, assist with training if needed, and participate actively in department, college, and university activities. This position will also be responsible for managing our student internship program and maintaining and upgrading our internal workflow, proofing and database systems.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills including use of creative lecture and laboratory teaching strategies and proficiency in instructional technology practices.
  • The ability to supervise student activities and projects as well as provide academic advising.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy laboratory environment. Effective interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Masters degree along with teaching experience is highly preferred, however, applicants with exceptional industry and/or academic experience will also be considered.
