Job Description Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic individual who is excited about doing clinical-translational research. This individual should be interested in a career in science or medicine. The clinical research coordinator will be working on publication-generating projects. He/she will be a member of a research laboratory and be responsible for the clinical research portion of several studies on human immune responses to vaccines and autoimmune diseases. Successful applicant will manage study activities including subject recruitment, data entry, subject visits and follow-up, and regulatory documentation. He/she will interact directly with Principal Investigator, other lab members, research staff, and patients. It is expected that the clinical research specialist will develop a high level of independence, be able to problem solve, and take a lead on projects. The clinical research coordinator will work in a supportive environment that is team-oriented, where creativity, enthusiasm and dedicated effort are highly rewarded. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and detail-oriented individual to coordinate patient-oriented clinical research projects within the Division of Rheumatology. The primary duties of the Clinical Research Coordinator A include, but are not limited to:

* Daily coordination of multiple investigator-initiated research studies focused on immune responses in people with autoimmune diseases and healthy volunteers.

* Screen, recruit, and consent potential study participants as specified per protocol.

* Schedule participant visits and any necessary testing/specimen collection.

* Collect blood, urine, tissue, and serum specimens and coordinate specimen storage and processing with various labs.

* Work with the principal investigator to prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation including continuing reviews, amendments, and adverse event reporting.

* Collect study data according to ALCOA principles. Enter data in REDCap databases.

* Organize and maintain all documentation including source documents, case report forms, essential study documents, regulatory documents, and participant binders.

* Coordinate and facilitate study related meetings and communications.

* Show vigilance in participant safety, protocol compliance, and data quality. Adhere to all University of Pennsylvania, FDA and GCP guidelines.

The Clinical Research Coordinator B is expected to perform their duties with minimal supervision. They will also manage the REDCap databases and independently prepare and submit to the IRB.

Position contingent upon funding.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications should clearly indicate those that are required and those that are preferred.)

CRC A: Bachelor's degree and 1 to 2 years clinical trial/clinical research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

CRC B: Bachelor's Degree and 2 years to 4 years of clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.

Effective problem solving abilities; strong attention to detail; effective communication and writing skills; strong organizational and time management skills; flexible and able to multi-task; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently; knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations, and highly reliable. Proficient in Microsoft Windows including Microsoft Excel and databases such as REDCAP. Prior clinical trial experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate has the duty to understand the role of the CRC as the intersection of study execution, customer service, participant safety, and overall compliance in clinical research. To this end, the proper candidate will be expected to have a strong foundation in clinical research regulations and operations through direct experience in the role.
