Classification Title: Student Services Professional I/B

Classification Salary Range: $4,066 - $5,752 per month

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Position:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing and in collaboration with the Director of the School of Nursing, the incumbent will provide assistance with clinical support activities, student advisement and placement of students at clinical sites. The position will work in close coordination with the School of Nursing Clinical Coordinator, the BSN Program Specialist, the Administrative Support Coordinator, Associate Directors, faculty and Program Coordinators to assure that student placements are appropriate for the desired learning and that contracting requirements are met in order to assure positive learning experiences.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Clinical Coordinator with facilitating student placement
  • Provide routine counseling and support to students during the enrollment and clinical placement process
  • In collaboration with faculty Program Coordinators, assists the Clinical Coordinator with identifying actual and potential sites for student placement
  • Assists with coordinating the relationship between student and the clinical placement facility.
  • Using well-structured formats, conduct presentations and represent the School of Nursing at community job fairs and at meetings hosted by affiliating clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: Equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the organization, procedures and activities of the school/department to which the position is assigned
  • Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the specific objectives of the school/department and its relationship to the total campus operation
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
  • Ability to stablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, affiliating institutions and other College departments/schools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferably experience in student advisement, student placement and/or working with affiliating agencies. Graduation from a university, preferably with baccalaureate or master's degree.
