Job Description

The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a restricted one-year nontenure-track appointment (with potential for renewal) to begin August 2023. The instructor will teach Communication Skills, a two-semester course in written and oral communication for first-year students. The instructor will teach four classes per semester and use a common syllabus and texts. Instructors provide academic advising to communication majors enrolled in their courses.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Communication or related discipline.
Experience teaching communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative teaching team.

Preferred Qualifications

Full-time experience in teaching written and oral communication
Course work/experience in teaching first-year students
Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into teaching
Experience/training with incorporating portfolio-based assessment into course work
