Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part-time role of Nursing Assistant IBEST Instructor on the Walla Walla Campus.

General Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in basic education skills and support success and completion for students participating in the Nursing Assistant (NA) IBEST Program. IBEST programs are team-taught with at least a 50% overlap to help students advance in academic and technical skills concurrently. This position may also provide student support (i.e., study groups) to ensure student retention and successful completion of NA and related academic courses.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Team teaches NA as a requirement for the certificate program.
  • Serves as a point of contact for IBEST students when they need referrals for tutoring or encounter barriers that keep them from completing college work.
  • Assists IBEST students with developing a NA program plan, including short- and long-term goals and benchmarks for student achievement.
  • Assists IBEST students with elements of college preparedness, including but not limited to study skills, mechanics of online course delivery, time management, academic tutoring, barrier identification, and problem-solving.
  • Assists the NA Instructor with implementing and coordinating orientation, registration, and/or other intake activities.
  • Acts as faculty lead in follow-up with students who miss class and re-connect to ensure they know how to reenter the program.
  • Collaborates with instructors in Allied Health and Transitional Studies as well as other instructors as necessary to develop integrative lessons and assignments.
  • Uses College and Career Readiness Standards in Adult Education in course design for reading, writing, speaking, listening, and math as they apply to content.
  • Supports students with individualized tutoring plans or sessions to enhance their ability to complete required coursework.
  • Coordinates Pre/Post CASAS assessments, WABERS intake forms, and other documentation required by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges with program staff in Access & Opportunity.
  • Line responsibility and audit documentation accountability to the Dean of Access & Opportunity.

  • Excellent English speaking, writing, listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate successful teaching in face-to-face, online and hybrid environments.
  • Demonstrate experience facilitating the success of students who represent a broad range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate interest and ability to work successfully with students, staff, and the community.
  • Intermediate-level computer competency, including Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Demonstrate ability to use technologies commonly used in instruction and office environments, including the ability to effectively use learning management systems in all class modalities.

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Education or closely related field.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in a college or adult basic education setting.
  • Experience developing and implementing integrated basic education and skills training programs.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with underprepared, disadvantaged, at-risk, and multi-cultural adult students, including students who are non-native speakers of English.
  • Experience with the development and use of learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education.
  • Experience working with learning standards and the CASAS Assessment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal relationship, and leadership skills.


  • Conditions/Terms of Employment

    WWCC is no longer required to collect COVID -19 vaccine information, however, some hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions where WWCC Nursing faculty may conduct business in, may require the COVID-19 and other vaccinations.

    This is a part-time instruction assignment contingent on enrollment and located at the Walla Walla Campus. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful employment to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and provide transcripts. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration of employment. The college is a tobacco free institution. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.

    Compensation:

    Compensation for adjunct instruction is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will commensurate with the educational background and experience per the Faculty Negotiated Agreement (Download PDF reader). Refer to Appendix D for the part-time salary schedule.
