Job Description

The Assistant Director performs duties to ensure institutional compliance with department, institutional, state, federal, NCAA and ACC guidelines. Assists the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance with the overall operations of athletics compliance including compliance-related projects and other administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of day-to-day compliance activities; serve as liaison with multiple offices on campus; athletics, registrar, financial aid, housing, admissions; provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for institution; oversight of specific compliance components as noted in job responsibility section.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree/Juris Doctor preferred.
• One (1) plus year of experience in applying Division I NCAA rules and regulations at a Division I institution and actual experience with compliance and policy issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics is preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant Software, LSDBi, and recruiting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willing to work evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

Main point of Contact for 4-5 sports to:

• Perform initial eligibility assessments for prospective student-athletes.
• Provide interpretative answers to questions from coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
• Educate coaches and student-athletes on NCAA rules.
• Writes violation self-reports and NCAA waivers.
• Monitors incoming transfers.
• Processes Official/Unofficial Visits and Student Host Education Meetings.
• Tracks Contacts and Evaluations.
• New coach/new employee Orientation.
• Admissions Liaison.
• Supervises the Athletics Compliance Intern in tracking and monitoring Time Demands Legislation and CARA .
• Oversees Charitable Donation Program.
• Logs and Monitors student-athlete employment.
• Oversees athlete agent registration.
