Health Management & Informatics at the University of Missouri, School of Medicine.

Job Description

Provide instruction in informatics resources, tools and systems to medical school faculty, biomedical researchers, staff and students for access and analyses of large complex datasets. Develop lecture materials and teach seminars regarding data resources, Outback data lake and cloud architecture, research data warehousing and data quality; provide instruction in use of Research Datawarehouse staged on data lake technologies such as SnowFlake and other informatics resources as needed by biomedical researchers and faculty; prepare technical reports in support of teaching biomedical informatics technology. Also lead the development, maintenance and production support for software applications that support biomedical informatics functions in the medical school, including defining specifications, design, develop or modify complex software in UNIX/LINUX environment working with relational databases and data lake technologies including developing/interacting with clinical systems (Ex. EPIC, Cerner), data warehouses and analytics, national terminology vocabularies (UMLS, RxNorm, LOINC, FDB), clinical research systems (Ex. OnCore, VELOS), and external registries and state/national datasets. Direct and mentor software engineers and technical teams; manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables; ensure integrity, confidentiality and security of institutional data.

Candidates will be evaluated on the following criteria: knowledge of medical informatics and software engineering for healthcare systems; expertise in programming languages; expertise in scripting languages; developing in LINUX/UNIX environment and using code management systems; expertise in developing database driven applications; knowledge of relational databases and SQL Programming; knowledge of container services and Amazon Web Services; expertise in Apache/JBoss/IIS web server administration; knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline; expertise in implementing SDLC methodologies.

Salary

Salary commensurate on experience.

Monday – Friday

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics or closely related field plus 36 months experience as a Biomedical Software Engineer.
