Job Summary

The Auburn University Office of Advancement is excited to begin the search for a Manager of Salesforce & Data Administration! Reporting to the IT Director within Advancement, the successful candidate will be the senior technical lead of the Salesforce CRM and will partner with members of the technology team, alumni & development, and senior leadership to achieve fundraising, alumni engagement, and administrative goals. The successful candidate must be able to work autonomously, collaboratively, and in partnership with various stakeholders throughout Advancement and the institution. This role serves as the primary steward of the Salesforce org and associated Service, Sales, and Experience Cloud implementations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations; Coordinates data management efforts across the unit to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.

Essential Functions
  • Directs multiple sources of highly complex data across the unit to include advancement data management, employer data management, and alumni data management, and corporate relation data to ensure integration between the various systems across Advancement and the institution. Provides technical design, implementation, maintenance, system administration, and support for the unit’s data users.
  • Gather requirements and develop solutions into best practices with a focus on exceptional user experience and integrated solutions if required. Oversee the design and implementation of the data architecture and data security. Adhere to administrative standards by relating to user and license management including new user setup/deactivation, roles, profiles, permissions, groups, and sharing rules.
  • Manage configuration changes, including Workflow, Process Builder, Flow, assignment rules, approval processes, fields, page layouts, record types, dynamic layouts, apps, actions, custom settings, objects, mobile administration, dashboards, and reports.
  • Promote the improvement of data quality, rules implementation, and automation as needed. Enforces policies and procedures for data governance, data security and integrity, and data definitions within Advancement.
  • Work with outside vendors, organizational leaders, governance committees, campus IT staff, and other stakeholders serving as the data subject matter expert to ensure smooth transactions, deployment, and operational processes. May collaborate with the Provost Office Salesforce team and the Functional Administrators in the units across campus. Assists with the selection of information technology that is significant to the management of data analytics and CRM technology.
  • Own the release management including Sandbox management, changeset tracking, and requirement collaboration with the application development team within the enterprise Salesforce.com framework. Proactive system maintenance including Security Reviews, Release Updates, Health Check, and Optimizer.
  • Manages the technical and data architecture design for the strategic Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) initiative within Advancement and its related integrated applications to ensure consistent flow of data between systems.
  • Develops and updates all training materials for Salesforce applications; conducts training sessions for new users and ongoing refresher sessions to current users. Ensures all users are up to date with system changes.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or Business Analytics

Experience:
6 years of experience in designing, administering, reporting, and analyzing data and data sources to drive decisions.

  • Higher Education or Nonprofit Salesforce.com implementation and support experience.
  • SFDC architecture experience and/or additional Mid-level or higher certifications.
  • Experience in translating business requirements into native and integrated solutions.
  • Able to leverage a highly technical mindset with a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments, teams, and business units.
