Job Summary:
Reporting to the President, the Director of Athletics is responsible for the development, administration, and maintenance of all aspects of the Division III Intercollegiate Athletics Program on the Florham Campus. The Director maintains a department that is committed to the University’s mission, strategic priorities, and its commitment to diversity and inclusion. This position also oversees the operation of the Roberta and Thomas Ferguson Recreation Center/fields and all of their programs during both the academic year and the summer. The Director assures that the Recreation Center/fields are effectively utilized to meet the educational and recreational needs of the campus community, the intercollegiate athletic schedule and the recreation programs.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree required; an advanced degree relevant to the field of athletics, recreation, or facility management is preferred.
2. A minimum of five years experience in athletic administration and supervision, preferably on the collegiate level, which demonstrates strong managerial skills and fiscal accountability.
3. Prior experience in facilities management for sporting events, coaching and/or recreational programs preferred.
4. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations and relevant state and local regulations pertaining to liability and insurance.
5. Knowledge and understanding of Title IX regulations.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well and effectively with all constituencies.
7. Commitment to support the academic progress and development of student-athletes.
8. Must have a First Aid and CPR certification or obtain them during the 90 day Introductory Period. National Red Cross certification preferred.
9. Must be willing and able to work nonstandard hours as necessary including evenings and weekends.
10. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle policy. A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.
11. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
