This is a 12-month, full-time staff position.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator, the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, provides day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions for the women’s basketball program. The head women’s coach will assist in the administration and leadership of the Johnson C. Smith University’s DII women’s basketball program. Responsibilities includes but are not limited to: providing coaching and instruction, recruiting, facilitation of player development, scouting, preparation of practice activities, fundraising, and other duties as assigned. The Head Women’s Basketball Coach will be responsible for cultivating a highly competitive program in compliance with the CIAA, NCAA and University policies, procedures, and expectations.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, a successful background in coaching, preferably at the collegiate level, and extensive knowledge of the sport of basketball with a demonstrated ability to teach the sport. Ability to recruit students who can excel in both athletics and academics is also required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds is an essential skill. Must be able to prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision. Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with NCAA Compliance Assistant, Eligibility Center, NCAA transfer policies and bylaws. Familiarity with Front Rush, or related recruiting systems is preferred. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.

Work Environment: An individual in this position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Sometimes will be exposed to outdoor work in inclement and/or hot weather and seasonally be required to work extended days and weekends. There is considerable travel and frequent night and weekend hours involved.
