The University of Puget Sound's Facilities Services Department is hiring a Vehicle Maintenance/Auto Mechanic responsible for the maintenance, repair, and search for purchase of all transportation fleet equipment for the university.

Please note:

-Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.
-Positions that work less than .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will accrue paid sick leave but are not eligible for additional benefits.
-Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.

This position is:

• a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE), non-exempt position.
• expected to work with the various university departments on their needs for vehicle maintenance, repair and/or purchase.
• responsible for dealing with vendors for parts and materials for the maintenance and repair of university owned vehicles and gas powered equipment.


To be considered for this role, a candidate must:

• be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• be familiar with carbureted, injected motorized equipment as well as two cycled motors; able to troubleshoot vehicles from the 1950's to present; and capable of rebuilding, removing and replacing transmissions.
• perform a variety of skilled automotive mechanical maintenance functions, including using tools of the trade; transmission testing equipment, oscilloscopes, battery charger, and computer testing equipment.
• lift between 50 – 75 pounds on a regular basis.
• respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.


Compensation and Benefits:

• The pay range for this position is $26.00 – $28.37 per hour. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
• This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
