JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the Office of Faculty Development, the Associate Director plans and implements effective strategies to support Northeastern faculty careers from their recruitment to the University through their retirement. Oversees the development and execution of evaluation plans for all programs, including tracking of all participants. Keep abreast of research on faculty development and lead the logistical planning of all programs and the dissemination of information and results about ADVANCE Office programs in scholarly articles. Maintain relationships with other University offices who collaborate with and support ADVANCE such as Facilities, HRM, OIDI, CATLR, ORD, Reprographics, Office of the Provost, Accounts Payable, etc. Assist in the preparation of a strategic plan in conjunction with the Executive Director and Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and build processes and activities to reach strategic goals. Serve as a project lead and collaborator for various programs including, but not limited to, ADVANCE office leadership (NFLP, ReDI, and IGNITE) and mentoring (Faculty and Staff Mentoring Circles) programs. Work with the Executive Director to set expectations for and supervises the day-to-day duties of the ADVANCE Program Manager including, but not limited to maintenance of the ADVANCE website and social media sites, creation and deployment of marketing and communication strategies, and the production of reports and newsletters. May also supervise both graduate and undergraduate students providing work standards, process, and the day-to-day work plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree with a Master's degree in a higher education, engineering, scientific field, or related STEM / Social Science field preferred and a minimum of five to six years of progressively responsible experience in program management including: supervising staff; working with administrators; and faculty career development, institutional diversity initiatives, women's advancement initiatives, multicultural work environments, or similar programs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to include evidence of research and scholarly writing capability
  • Ability to work with both faculty and administrators
  • Effective interpersonal skills, planning and organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in organizational development in a non-profit or academic institution
  • Experience conducting needs analyses to determine and understand organizational needs
  • Working knowledge of accounting, budget planning and financial forecasting and grants and contract administration
  • Strong expertise in business and management computer applications and databases
  • Able to keep abreast of research on universities and faculty


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Develops and executes the operational plan for all activities in the ADVANCE office. Leads on event planning and all programs and initiatives. Serves as project manager of leadership development programs like ReDI, NFLP, and IGNITE and mentoring programs like the Mentoring Circles, and mentor trainings.

2) Develops and executes an evaluation plan for all ADVANCE programs. These assessments include participant feedback at events, post surveys, and cumulative evaluation in the form of qualitative and quantitative evaluations. Responsible for creating summaries that useful for reporting and future program/event planning. Reports will be in the form of internal documents as well as scholarly conference and journal publications.

3) Provides budget oversight which includes monthly balancing, paying all invoices, and supporting the director in annual budget preparation. Work with the Executive Director on the budget projection on a quarterly basis.

4) Contributes to the planning of programs, maintaining a positive work climate within the office and maintains good working relationships with other University offices. Responsible for the supervision of a program manager and graduate and undergraduate students. This includes their hiring, evaluation, and day-to-day work. Is responsible for setting work expectations, standards, and processes.
