ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Physics Department at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at all ranks (Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor) in the Department of Physics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in physics, as well as contributing to the development of new courses and programs. The standard workload for teaching alone would be teaching up to six sections (6 courses) per year of physics and related courses for physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering students at the undergraduate level. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with an initial appointment of one year, renewable yearly based on performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach undergraduate courses in physics, including introductory courses, advanced courses, and labs
  • Contribute to the development of new courses and programs in physics
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty members to ensure course coherence and alignment with departmental goals
  • Participate in departmental and University service activities
  • Engage in professional development, such as attending conferences and workshops, and staying current with research and learning in the field of physics education


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate physics courses
  • Strong commitment to student learning and engagement
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience with developing and implementing innovative pedagogical techniques and/or technology-enhanced instruction is desirable
  • Knowledge of medical physics is desirable
